Goodalls 'A Modern Irish Cookbook' wins Top Award
A huge congratulation to Goodalls for winning a Gourmand Award for Ireland’s first-ever blogger cookbook - A Modern Irish Cookbook, curated by Goodall’s. At the recent Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Beijing the book has been awarded ‘Best in the World’ in the ‘Best Author & Chefs’ blog category.
Consisting of recipes from Ireland’s thriving food blogging community, Goodall’s of Ireland published the book in late 2012 after a conducting nationwide search for recipes that represent what modern Irish home cooking looks like today.
‘A Modern Irish Cookbook’ is a collective effort, sharing the tried and tested recipes of some of the country's most popular food bloggers. It includes dishes that take inspiration from traditional Irish cooking and ingredients and also recipes that have been influenced by the international culinary trends that we’ve become accustomed to over the years.
The book features 50 recipes from 43 bloggers, and encompasses Light Bites, Brunch, Dinner, Breads and Sweet Things, with each of the dishes celebrating Irish cooking at its best.
The book was launched in October 2012 and had two main aims. Firstly to highlight Irish culinary tradition as it existed in 2012. Secondly, all the proceeds (minus unavoidable fees from Paypal) are being given to two very deserving charities: Cork Penny Dinners and Crosscare.
Marian was one of the contributors with her Hazelnut & Raw Cacao Creams (photo below). The soft cookies are made with spelt flour, sweetened with agave syrup plus is dairy and egg free as well.
Bear in mind though there are 50 recipes and are a reflection of modern culinary traditions in Ireland today, so a veritable mix of everthing. Thereby Herbis and Carnis alike should find at least one recipe to suit their palates.
